Handcrafted solid Oak traditional window. 

Fitted with Exitex draught seals and black Anvil hardware.

External frame section sizes, head and sides and mullion 95mm x 45mm, cill 95mm x 56mm.

Sash section sizes, head and sides 56mm x 45mm, bottom rail 56mm x 65mm. 

All sizes are before sanding so are approximate. 

Windows (where applicable) are supplied with one sash fixed and one sash opening handed at our discretion (viewed from outside), unless you contact us with a specific request upon ordering. 

These beautiful windows are handcrafted in a family run traditional workshop on the Grosvenor Estate in the Cheshire countryside and because of this they can be made to any bespoke size, please contact us for a quote.

 

All joints are through mortice and tenon. Each section of timber is machined 

from a single piece of Oak and not numerous pieces laminated together. 

 

The only exception is the front of the cill. This can be fitted to the window free of charge before shipping unless requested to be made without a cill.

 

Supplied untreated so you must add your own paint or varnish. PLEASE FOLLOW OUR RECOMMENDED TREATMENT PLAN.

 

Supplied fully glazed, with a 24mm double glazed unit with Pilkington soft coat 'K' glass and argon gas fill.

    THIS IS THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF TREATMENT WE RECOMMEND. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY LEAD TO WATER PENETRATION WHICH WILL CAUSE SWELLING AND DAMAGE TO YOUR ITEM. 

     

    Osmo 420 extra oil.

    This is the most natural but requires regular upkeep. 

    Initial treatment before fitting.

    Apply 5-6 medium coats with a brush to all surfaces including the top, bottom and sides and any cutouts for hinges or lock recesses.

    Apply 2 coats each spring and autumn thereafter.

    Alternative Treatment Plan.

    This is more durable and requires less upkeep 

    Sadolin Extra Durable Clearcoat

    It is clear and UV resistant. 

    Initial treatment before fitting.

    Apply 4 medium coats with a brush to all surfaces including the top, bottom and sides and any cutouts for hinges or lock recesses.

    Apply 2 coats the following spring and autumn

    Apply 1 coat each year thereafter

    It is self priming and undercoating 

    Initial treatment before fitting.

    Apply 4 medium coats with a brush to all surfaces including the top, bottom and sides and any cutouts for hinges or lock recesses.

    Apply 2 -3 coats the following year

    Apply 2 -3 coats every 2 years thereafter

    After treatment a seal of clear glazing silicone should be applied on the outside and inside between the glazing beads and the glass.
